Why are reviews so important?

"They say happy people don't have stories..."

But we can't honestly verify this statement judging by the number of happy customers who posted reviews here, there and everywhere!

I had an amazing experience at Hem over Heels. I had to get a jumpsuit hemmed super last minute for a wedding and a pair of shoes fixed. I came in Thursday at 9am and they had my shoes and jumpsuit ready by Friday at 9am. You will not regret going to hem over heels. I will definitely be back and will be telling everyone about it. Thank you Josh for a wonderful experience and great customer service.

I truly had a bridesmaid emergency, wedding was a week away and my dress was cut completely down the side with some additional tears throughout it. When I picked up the dress though it looked brand new! I was completely stressed out about how it was going to turn out but it hardly had any visible stitching and looked exactly as the original. Completely satisfied and happy with the result, 100% recommend.

What an outstanding business! I needed somewhat extensive alterations on my mother-of-the-groom gown. I started with something that was too small in the bust and too big everywhere else. It was too long, and needed a double hem, since the dress is chiffon over a lining.

So I arrived 8 days ago, and was taken in immediately, even without an appointment. I tried it on for Lia. She patiently marked the hem, then we began to discuss what could be done about the rest. She knew exactly what to do to make it fit like a glove. As for the bustline, she suggested a two-prong approach, which consisted of bringing the shoulder straps up, and sewing bra cups right into the dress. I was skeptical, so she pinned the cups in, then shortened the straps, also with pins. The difference was absolutely amazing! It no longer looked like I had stuffed the top to the point of spilling out. No specialty bra needed, no bra of any kind needed, and as a bonus, I wouldn't have to spend the whole day tugging the back of a bra down so it wouldn't show above the low back. Perfect! Lia fixed it so it felt unbelievably secure, even with twisting and bending.

Clearly, she knows all the extraordinary tricks of the trade. She pinned the sides to take them in, realigned long darts, and I was on my way. Lia had spent quite awhile with me to listen to what I wanted in a fit, and to make suggestions and show me her solutions. It took longer than I had expected, but Lia took it in stride, never made me feel like I was a bother. She was incredibly patient.

I returned today, when I was told the gown would be finished, and it was. I tried it on, in case the fit needed some fine tuning. Nothing further was necessary. It fits me like a custom made, couturier gown! Lia made every line, every curve fit smoothly with nary a bump or wrinkle. It highlights the best features of my figure with an ease that belies all the great work she performed. I am beyond excited!

The owner is very solicitous of his customers' needs. We chatted when I checked out. They do luggage and handbag repairs, shoe repairs, they make keys and sharpen knives, and repair leather goods, among other indispensable things.

But first and foremost, this is THE place to go for all your alterations. Professional, competent seamstresses are hard to find, and worth their weight in gold if you can. They don't come better than Lia. She is the gold standard.

I have usually done all my own alterations, having learned how to sew garments as a teen, graduating to tailoring later on. But getting it right with a long double hem on yourself is very difficult at best, downright impossible at worst. So I needed help this time. As one who is no stranger to a needle and thread, I can say Lia is expert at her trade. She will wave her magic wand and get to work on your garments to make you look like a queen. Kudos to Hem Over Heels - they are SO much more than just a cute name!

After taking my wedding dress to a family friend who does alterations, she ruined it. She cut it to short and it was uneven. Lea saved my dress. A million thanks to the friendly professional staff and the magical skills they saved the day. I highly recommend using them.

I had such a great experience with this company! I came with a bridesmaid dress and some sweaters that were too long. I made an appointment and as soon as I came in I was seen and it was quick and easy. They are very nice and willing to make adjustments even after things are pinned. It was a very quick turn around! I tried everything on when I got home because I was in a rush and everything was perfect! They have a guarantee also which is nice in case something isn't quite right, but the quality is so well done I doubt it is used often!

HEAD OVER HEELS IT SHOULD BE CALLED! My husband and and I are new to the Del Ray area and we were having a yogurt in strip mall in Boynton Beach. We had some leather goods to be repaired so we thought we d give them a try. We are so used to the fast paced rapid fire gauntlet we get in New York. What a pleasant surprise . The proprietor " Josh" was discussing a possible future job with the customer ahead of us. He seemed knowledgeable and patient with our questions. When our turn came we began to give him and a description of our job. It was a repair of a zipper on a brand new expensive tote. He fixed it in front of our eyes in a snap. He then proceeded to do a small task on my husbands belt. We were really satisfied and plan to return as we found out he does so many kinds of clothing alteration embroidery and other things we can surely use. I am HEAD OVER HEELS with Hem over heels

This place is amazing! I had a disaster of a bridesmaid dress that was ordered in the wrong size and then messed up by a different tailor. I took the dress to Hem Over Heels, in tears, hoping they could help me. They did so much more than help me....they made the dress look flawless on me! They are so extremely friendly and helpful.Recently, I also brought in a very special hat that got damaged. This hat belonged to a child who was extremely upset that it got damaged. Josh was able to repair the hat and made it look perfect again. The child was SO happy to see his hat was fixed!Thank you so much for your kindness! I have only good things to say about Hem over Heels and their kindness, professionalism and craftsmanship.

Positive reviews are the building blocks of a good reputation

Are reviews really that important?

Predicting the outcome of your transaction

Generally, reading the reviews will usually be giving you a pretty good idea of your degree of satisfaction in an establishment you are not familiar with. Businesses used to count on word of mouth to spread the word around about their products and services to grow in popularity.

That is still true today but we now live in a society where those words are amplified via all the social networks available out there. In a not so far past, it took years to build a reputation and years to destroy it. But now, this is all happening at a much faster speed. In other words, you can say that the message spreads at the fiber optic speed.

There will always be unhappy customer

Sometimes the complaints are fully deserved. In this case, everything should be done to make the necessary corrections to prevent a repetition. On the other hand, a simple look at the user’s overall profile sometimes makes you realize that he/she never has anything good to say about anybody… Unfortunately, they are the ones to always be the first to voice their opinions. They are out to get revenge and to hurt the business at all cost.

Happy customers tend to stay quiet

However, it is well known that “Happy people don’t have stories…”. They very rarely let their happiness spill on the review sites. Consequently, we sometimes remind them that they should let their voice be heard in order to offset the many trolls out there. Most like the idea but only a fraction of them actually make good on their promise to put in their two cents…

Most importantly, if the overall review rating is as high as ours, you can actually be assured that it is indicative of the organization you want to deal with.

By the way, Yelp!, Google reviews, Facebook and Angie’s List are the most used review sites (Wink, Wink). All hopes are that you will let your opinion be heard loud and clear.

Another good reason to give us a positive review…

To tip or not, that is the question

What is the tips etiquette for a seamstress or a shoemaker? We can certainly agree that it isn’t clear to say the least.  On the other hand, we don’t have the same problem when we are dealing with a hair dresser or a waiter. So what is the golden rule then?

Be assured that we will not stop you if you want to reward the workers directly. But in all honesty, they appreciate the reviews much more than monetary tips. It sure is always pleasant to get a little bit of extra cash for a job well done but it is easily forgotten and quickly spent.

Reviews are the best form of flattery

We are specialists in a fading trade. Survival is always the first focus and worry. Above all, our employees appreciate anything that will generate them more work. And the easiest way to make this happen is to simply write a positive review. As a result, the worker will have a durable effect on its business. This type of reward will not only offset the squeaky wheels that do nothing but complain, but it will also insure your service provider will be there when you need them again.

Positive reviews = Food on the table

A few dollar tip will pay for a cup of coffee once maybe. A review will bring food to a whole group of people many times over. The awkwardness that comes with the question to tip or not to tip is easily avoided. Just leave that employee and/or the business a positive feedback. That will generate the traffic they need to make a living out of their talent.
