Copy House & Mailbox Keys

We offer fast and reliable duplication for most house and mailbox keys.

For common house keys like KW-1 or SC-1, we even have a selection of designer keys to help you easily distinguish them. These vibrant, stylish keys cost more than standard brass or nickel options, so we recommend reserving them for master keys. Master keys are identifiable by an engraved series of 5 to 6 numbers on the head, representing the cut depth. Higher numbers indicate deeper cuts.

If you don’t have a master key, we suggest opting for the basic brass key with a color-coded identifier ring—a practical, affordable solution.

Please note that only copies made from master keys are guaranteed to work. Copies of copies can't be guaranteed or refunded. If you’re duplicating from a master key and the key doesn’t work, we’ll try again up to three times, or you’ll receive a full refund.

We also carry a variety of key chains and accessories to personalize your keys. Most keys are cut in about a minute while you wait.

Note: We do not accept credit card payments for less than two keys.

Watch Battery Replacements

We replace batteries for most watches as long as we can open the back cap. However, please note that we do not repair mechanical issues or work on rechargeable watches—our service is limited to regular battery changes.

While we specialize in battery replacements, we can sometimes assist with minor adjustments on leather watch straps, such as punching extra holes or gluing. We do not handle adjustments on metal links or rubber bracelets.

Since this is delicate work, we typically complete it by the next day. We don’t offer same-day or while-you-wait services because changing watch batteries requires full attention, without distractions from the store's activity. We handle these tasks after hours or before opening in the morning, ensuring precision.

Some watches may require two batteries. In such cases, we take a photo of the inside to show you both batteries have been replaced, and the pricing is adjusted accordingly.

To ensure we only change what’s necessary, we test all removed batteries. If your watch’s issue is mechanical rather than electrical, and the battery is still functional, we won’t proceed with the replacement. We'll close the cover and let you know to take it for further repair. Naturally, you won’t be charged for our service in this instance.

Cover Pillows & Cushions

Over time, patio furniture cushions can fade from sun exposure, and the heat can weaken the threads holding everything together. If your cushions and pillows are starting to look worn, bring them to us for a refresh. Simply provide the fabric of your choice, and we’ll take care of the rest—we supply zippers, cording, and everything else needed to complete the job.

Pricing for cushion and pillow recovery depends on the specifics of your project. Cushion size, shape, and complexity all play a role in determining cost. Since each piece can vary, we assess the work in person—photos alone don’t allow us to give an accurate estimate. Unique shapes and larger sizes will naturally require more time and effort, which affects the final price.

We can also recover bar stool or kitchen chair cushions. Just bring us the cushions and your selected fabric, and we’ll handle the rest.

Turnaround time is typically one week, but if we can complete your project sooner, we certainly will.

Riding boots & Horse Bridles

Riding gear can be expensive, so when repairs are possible, it's far more cost-effective than replacing everything. At Hem Over Heels, we specialize in repairing most types of riding boots and horse bridles. Whether it’s patching, restitching, replacing zippers, fixing snaps, or cleaning and shining, we’ve got you covered. We also handle resoling and heeling for riding boots with ease.

No need to search endlessly for a place that handles equestrian gear repairs—you've found it here. We pride ourselves on quick turnaround times, often completing the work within a week, unlike some shops near equestrian facilities where the wait can be long. All work is done in-house by the same skilled professionals you meet in-store; we’re not middlemen.

Additionally, we offer monogramming for your saddle pads, so there's no need to look elsewhere. Everything you need is done under one roof—right here at Hem Over Heels.

Duffel bags & Backpacks

Duffel bags are known for their durability, but even the toughest canvas can tear, and seams can split, especially when overstuffed. Backpacks, often used by students to carry heavy books and supplies, face similar challenges. Many backpacks aren't designed to handle such constant weight, leading to broken parts, worn-down fabric, or common issues like zipper malfunctions and fraying seams where the straps attach.

While some backpacks are inexpensive and not always worth repairing, larger duffel bags—like camp trunks—tend to be a worthwhile investment for repairs. For duffels, we can patch holes with canvas, vinyl, or even add embroidered patches. Detached straps can be restitched, and while zipper problems are less common, we can handle those too.

Backpack repairs, especially those involving frayed fabric, often require opening seams, removing piping, and seam binding, which makes the work more complex than it may seem. So when we quote a price, please understand that the repair process takes time and skill.

Bring your duffel bags and backpacks in for a personalized assessment, and don’t forget—if you want a special touch, we also offer monogramming with our embroidery services!

Roller Wheel Luggage 84 KB

Luggage & Carry-on

These days, we don’t see as many luggage repairs as we used to. It’s not that we don’t want to help—it’s that manufacturers have made it nearly impossible to repair luggage effectively. Over the years, they realized that customers were fixing their luggage rather than buying new pieces. To keep selling, they’ve made replacement parts harder to find, and in many cases, repairs more costly than purchasing new luggage.

A prime example is the evolution of luggage wheels. In the past, recessed roller skate-style wheels were durable and easy to replace. Today’s multi-directional roller wheels, while convenient for maneuverability, are completely exposed and prone to damage. These wheels break frequently—whether you bought budget luggage or a high-end model. And now, manufacturers complicate things further by using different wheel types for every luggage size, even varying between the left, right, front, and back wheels of the same suitcase.

Even if you manage to track down the right parts (which can take days), installation may be difficult or impossible without dismantling the entire suitcase. By the time you factor in the cost of the parts and labor, buying a new piece of luggage might be the more practical option.

These days, the repairs we can handle are mostly limited to zippers, which are still fixable in many cases. We might also be able to fix handles, but it depends on the damage. However, pull-out telescopic handles are a different story—the internal plastic mechanisms break easily, and replacing them is usually not worth it. If the handle tubes are bent, the entire structure would need to be replaced, which is rarely a viable option.

If you're still unsure about the viability of a repair, bring your luggage in for an assessment. Just keep your expectations low. If we can help and the repair is worth it, consider it a bonus!
