Appointments
Walk-ins are always welcome. But we strongly suggest that...
- If you have lots of work to bring in that may require extensive fitting time, you should set-up a longer session according to the amount of work you have.
- If you bring us a Wedding Gown or something similar, then we ask that you to set-up a consultation for a duration of about 60 minutes (unless it is simply to shorten the shoulder straps, then a 20 minutes booking would be sufficient).
Should you set up an appointment?
At Hem Over Heels, we offer flexibility to accommodate the needs of our customers. While we welcome walk-ins and always have at least one seamstress available during business hours, most alterations and repairs cannot be completed on the spot. Small repairs might be handled quickly, but generally, customers will need to leave their items with us so we can work on them during available time. We aim for a one-week turnaround for most orders, but that timeframe may vary depending on our current workload.
For routine alterations or small tasks, such as hemming or minor adjustments, we often complete them sooner, especially during slower seasons. During those times, we may be able to deliver orders within two to four days. However, during our busiest times, such as peak wedding and event seasons, the turnaround is closer to one week. It’s always a good idea to keep this in mind when planning your visit. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you have an urgent deadline, please discuss it with us so we can give you realistic expectations.
In some cases, we do offer rush orders. If you need your work completed quickly, please let us know right away when you come in. Our ability to accommodate rush requests depends on the volume of work we already have, so we may not be able to take every request. When we can accept rush orders, there is a rush fee involved: $5 for orders that total $50 or less, and for orders over $50, the fee is 10% of the total amount. By clearly communicating your need for a fast turnaround, we can do our best to work it into our schedule. Please note, however, that during particularly busy times, rush requests may be harder to accommodate.
For larger or more complex alteration projects, like multiple items or wedding gowns, we recommend setting up an appointment. When multiple items need attention, scheduling a time with us ensures that we can dedicate the appropriate amount of time to go over each piece carefully. This helps us provide the level of attention and detail your garments deserve. By setting an appointment, you’ll also receive a text message reminder, so you don’t have to worry about missing your scheduled time.
When it comes to wedding gown fittings, appointments are strongly recommended. These fittings require a higher level of care and longer appointment times, and by scheduling ahead, we ensure that one of our experienced seamstresses will be available exclusively for your fitting. Additionally, we prepare the fitting area, making sure the space is extra clean and ready for your visit. While we encourage appointments for wedding gowns, we still welcome consultations or quick assessments without one. We want to ensure that your special day goes smoothly, and booking an appointment helps guarantee that.
In addition to our flexible scheduling options, we have designed our appointment tool to be easy to use. Customers can select a convenient time that fits their schedule and receive a reminder via text. While most customers enjoy the flexibility of walking in, an appointment ensures that our staff is fully prepared for your more complex needs. This way, you can be confident that when you arrive, your fitting will go smoothly, with everything in place. Even though appointments are recommended for big projects, we always have a seamstress on hand during business hours, and typically, we have two available. No need to call ahead to check our availability — we’re here when you need us.
