Payment Methods at Hem Over Heels

At Hem Over Heels, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, debit cards, Apple Pay and (for a limited time) we still accept Cash transactions. However, we do not accept American Express or checks for the following reasons:

Why We Don’t Accept American Express

While American Express offers excellent customer service, it presents challenges for small businesses like ours:

Separate Account Requirement: To accept American Express, businesses must maintain a separate account, which adds unnecessary complexity.
Delayed Deposits: Payments made with other cards are deposited into our business account the next morning. With American Express, funds are deposited two days later, making it harder to track and balance payments.
Slightly Higher Fees: Although American Express has adjusted its rates to be more competitive, they still charge slightly more per transaction.
Merchant Disputes: From experience, resolving disputes with American Express is more time-consuming compared to other cards. For merchants, it’s more difficult to navigate their processes in cases of contested charges.

Why We Don’t Accept Checks

Accepting checks carries high risks:

Bounced Checks: If a check bounces, we incur significant fees ($40 or more) and often have no way of recovering the costs from customers.
Unreliable Payments: Some customers knowingly write checks without sufficient funds, leaving us unable to recover the payment for our services and merchandise.

To ensure smooth, quick, and reliable transactions, we kindly ask that our customers use credit or debit cards, or Apple Pay. Thank you for your understanding!
